Kazuo Sakai, Kudan, is the Deputy Chief Director of the Wado Ryu Renmei as well as the Chief Technical Instructor to the Kokusai Budoin Federation representing Wado Ryu Karate. He reports to 2nd Grandmaster, Hironori Otsuka II.

Sakai Sensei was awarded Kudan in 1997 by Kokusai Budoin Federation. The Kokusai Budoin (International Martial Arts Federation), founded in 1952, is dedicated to the promotion of friendship and cooperation among leaders and enthusiasts of the Japanese Martial Arts. Its Headquarters are in Tokyo, Japan. IMAF has established branches in many countries throughout the world. The Kokusai Budoin, comprises the following divisions: Judo, Kendo, Karatedo, Aikido, Iaido, Nihon Jujutsu, and Kobudo.

Sakai Sensei lives and teaches in Yokohama where he operates the Jo Sui Kai Dojo. Besides a Kudan in Wado Ryu Karate, he has an 8th Dan in Ju Jitsu Kempo and 7th Dan in the Japanese all styles systems. He is a leading weapons exponent and prominent member of the Wado Ryu hierachy.
