Ode to Cliffby Conrad Jones, May 2003Cliff came to the karate school as a young boy ... Now as a young man, he’s off to college to seek more joy! He’s learned a lot of things, like getting up when you fall … Also, along the way, he got pretty awesome at basketball. At an early age, he learned life was more than just fun and banners … That’s why he’s one of the best at displaying his manners. He’s experienced a lot, we are sure he won’t get lost … He’s battled hard, even at lacrosse. Cliff has traveled a lot, he doesn’t know the meaning of failure … He even brought the old Sensei a gift from Australia. Mom and Dad and Vivian, I know they are proud … An awesome brother and son, who stands out in a crowd. As a 2nd Degree Black Belt, Cliff has shown he can reach any goal … His honesty, humility and respect really show. All of us at karate have been lucky to be a part of your life for the past few years ... At the end of this poem, I might shed a few tears. Keep reaching up, and you will go high … You have touched our lives, so we’ll never say “goodbye.” |
