Kata: Pinan Yondan
This kata was called Heian Yondan by Funakoshi Sensei and was
introduced in 1907 by Anko Itosu, Shuri-Te style. The theme of this kata is
street fighting and jiujitsu techniques.
Note: Because of its overwhelming use in Wado techniques, if only one hand is
mentioned, the other hand is performing a back hikite. Also, unless otherwise
mentioned, all jun-tsukis are at the chudan (solar plexus) level.

Left facing mawata (90°) Step into a right horizontal jodan shooto uke, left
soto shooto uke. Drop left mahanmi neeko ashi dachi.

Hands rotate forward and down 90°. Stance pulls left in to a bent leg heiko
dachi.

Mawata clockwise, 180°, step into a left horizontal jodan shooto uke, right
soto shooto uke. Right mahanmi neeko ashi dachi.

Hands pull back to each side of obi. Stance pulls right in to a bent leg heiko
dachi.

Step forward into gedan kosa block. Left zenkutsa dachi.

Step forward into right soto uke, left tae uke. Right mahanmi neeko ashi dachi.

Step up into left tae uke, right hikite. Heisoku dachi.

Look left, simultaneously do a left chudan tetsui, and left gedan mae geri,
followed by a right pull in impi strike. Seisan dachi.

Pull back into right tae uke, left hikite. Heisoku dachi.

Look right, simultaneously do a right chudan tetsui, and right gedan mae geri,
followed by a left pull in impi strike. Seisan dachi.

Right hand opens and horizontally covers head, while left hand opens and moves
beside left leg. Perform a clockwise sweep. Naname zenkutsa dachi.

Right mae geri, step forward, right jodan urachen. Right gyaku neeko ashi
dachi.

Mawata left 225°, right ude uke, left soto uke. Left mashomen neeko ashi dachi.

Right mae geri, right jun-tsuki, pull back left gyaku-tsuki. Right zenkutsa
dachi, pull back seisan dachi.

Mawata right 90°, right soto uke. Right mashomen neeko ashi dachii.

Left mae geri, left jun-tsuki, pull back right gyaku-tsuki, then right hand
goes into a horizontal jodan cover seikan and left hand is parallel to left
leg. Left zenkutsa dachi, pull back seisan dachi with gyaku-tsuki.

Left soto uke, right tae uke. Left mahanmi neeko ashi dachi.

Twist forward, right punch, slide forward, drop into right soto uke, left tae
uke. Slide forward, then hit long right neeko ashi dachi.

Twist forward, left punch, slide forward, drop into left soto uke, right tae
uke. Slide forward, then hit long left neeko ashi dachi.

Right Jodan punch outside of left soto uke, pull back into double soto uke,
perform downward break. Left mashomen neeko ashi dachi.

Both hands cover body, right high, left low, then turn right 225°, into left
nodo sukami and right obi shotei uke. Form the 'T', then the twist finished, go
into a long left neeko ashi dachi.

Bring left hand to chin, and drop vertically into a obi shotei uke, while
stepping into a right nodo sukami. Stepping right mahanmi neeko ashi dachi.

Yame. Step left foot back, then pull into heiko dachi.
